중세인의 상징화 능력이 자연에 대한 불신과 나란히 있었다는 뜻인지, 중세인들이 자연을 불신했다는 말인지 궁금해요.
'We who are heirs to three centuries of science can hardly realize a state of mind in which all material objects were thought of as symbols of spiritual truths or episodes in sacred history.'도 전체 뜻이 잘 잡히지 않네요.
'We who are...'에서 인칭대명사 뒤에 관계대명사 who를 쓰는 게 문법적으로 가능한지도 알려 주세요.
