In this weak economy, college graduates may have a hard time obtaining a job. Fortunately, they don’t always have to; nonpaying internships have become a popular alternative. Nowadays, people seeking internships have the option to turn to internship placement services, an industry that has exploded in recent years. According to internship service companies, they have the resources to help their clients land difficult-to get positions because of their numerous contacts with all kinds of employers. Nonetheless, college advisors caution parents who are considering relying on an internship service company to get their child an internship. That’s because it will deprive their child of the opportunity to develop the job-seeking skills they’ll need once they enter the working world.
